Course Overview:

Geography is the study of the physical, biological, and cultural features of Earth’s surface.

·         Weekly map quiz

·         Unit 1: The Geographer’s World

·         Unit 2: The United States and Canada

·         Unit 3: Middle and South America

·         Unit 4: Europe

·         Unit 5: Russia and Northern Eurasia

·         Unit 6: Southwest Asia

·         Unit 7: Africa

·         Unit 8: South Asia

·         Unit 9: East and Southeast Asia

·         Unit 10: The Pacific World

·         Some tests will cover an entire unit and some will cover chapters. The teacher will let the student know when a test is based on a unit or chapter.

 

Class Rules:

1. Be on time and ready to begin.

2. Be prepared to learn and work.

3. Respect classmates and the teacher.

4. Be attentive, positive, and considerate.

5. Follow all school rules and regulations.

6. Don’t get out of your seat unless you have permission.

7. Bring all required materials to class.

8. Wait to be recognized to speak.

Grading Percentages:

Test/Major Grades               55%

Quizzes                                 35%

Daily Grades                        10%

Nine weeks tests will count 25% of nine weeks grade.

Semester exam will count 25% of semester grade.

 

Materials:

3-ring binder

Pens, pencils, paper

Colored pencils

 

Homework:

Homework is to be completed and turned in the day it is due. There will not be homework everyday but homework is expected to be done. Homework will count as a daily grade.

 

Extra Credit/Extra Help:

Throughout the semester there will be opportunities to earn extra credit. It is optional for the student and can only help your grade. I am available before and after school for any extra help that is needed. If you need extra help let me know and I will be glad to assist you.
