Library Procedures

Students may come to the library each day with permission and a library pass from their teacher. Students may come to check out books, read magazines, use the Internet for research, use other resource materials for research, take Accelerated Reader quizzes, and type reports on the computers.

Many class come together for checking out, doing research, or having classes on important skills being covered in the classroom. Teachers, please sign up for classes and lessons with Mrs. Prince in advance.

Students are allowed to check out 2 books at a time and may keep them for 2 weeks. Exceptions to the 2 week rule include Reading Tournament Books and holiday or seasonal books. Reading Tournament books may be kept for one week while holiday or seasonal books may be checked out for 3 days. Students can only check out 1 Reading Tournament book at a time.

When students are returning books, they should be placed inside the red return books box located by the check out counter. Students use browsing sticks to help them in locating and returning books to the proper place on the shelf. Once students have selected their books, they bring them to the check out counter for Mrs. Prince or Mrs. Betsill to check out.

Students, teachers, and parents are encouraged to request titles or topics of books for our collection. Just see Mrs. Prince and she will be glad to help you out!
