True comprehension goes beyond literal understanding and involves the reader's interaction with text. If students are to become thoughtful, insightful readers, they must extend their thinking beyond a superficial understanding of the text. - Stephanie Harvey/Anne Goudvis

"I teach because I look forward to helping all
students in my class to excel in the areas of Language Arts and Social Studies.
I have always loved reading, writing, and history. My main goal is to see each
child learn in a caring environment. My expectations are set high as I believe that every
child can learn, but that each child learns in different ways and at different speeds.
As a teacher I do my best to determine how each student learns best, and then help each
student develop to the best of his or her ability. In order to do this, I use a variety of
teaching methods in my classroom to address the differing needs of my students.
The students work alone, with partners, and in small or large groups. I look forward to
working with my students to allow them to get the most out of each school year."
